Revelations and prophetic fulfillments may seem to be upon us in real ways during these very questionable times. I would argue that whether or not the end is imminent or even 120 years from now, the objective truth is that we will all face our own personal apocalypse, regardless of the “end of days” or not. The word apocalypse simply means “unveiling”. To have something unveiled is to face a new reality that we were not aware of previously. For example, the bride is traditionally unveiled before she is betrothed. This is to signal that the old life of the woman is coming to an end and a new life with her husband has now begun. The veil between the two is lifted and they now become one. Such a beautiful vision to behold.
Modern contemporary art and entertainment have rendered works that have inspired quite a negative, catastrophic and even hopeless connotation with the word apocalypse. It is true that we will all be faced with death; something human beings will not be able to overcome alone. Good, now that we have acknowledged that, what is the solution? There is no sense of worrying about the things we cannot control, right?
“But how can we not worry?” you may ask. The simple answer? By surrendering yourself to absolutely to Christ. I didn’t say it was easy, but it is simple. When our Lord returns in the end as He promised — and He has kept all of His promises — He will be unveiling His “bride”, namely the Church.
So the real question is how do we prepare for this “unveiling”? Well let’s start by getting to know this strange and relentless man Jesus the Christ of Nazareth.
In the book of Revelation Chapter 5:5, Jesus is symbolically referred to as the Lion of the tribe of Judah. This powerful imagery highlights Jesus' authority, strength, and triumph over all. By connecting Jesus to the root of David, it signifies his royal lineage and divine right to rule. Jesus Christ is a King. Being in this house of David is one of Jesus’ first fulfillments of the Old Testament prophesies. After his birth we see a chain of historically verifiable events that fulfills over 300 more. I once heard that the probability of Jesus only fulfilling 8 prophesies, yes 8, is 1 in 10 to the 17th power. That’s 1 in 100 million billion. That is equivalent to coving an area the size of Texas with silver dollar coins, marking one of the coins, mixing them up, and then having one person pick the marked one — at random — the first time. Again, Jesus fulfilled 300 prophesies. The odds? Insurmountable…
Now, investigating these claims and the prophesies themselves ( I encourage you to go take a look at some of them yourself in the link above.) leads us to conclude certain things if we are honest. Jesus is the King of Kings who has conquered sin and death. The Old Testament glorifies God in many way, one being, King of the Universe. A real and traditional King’s sole responsibility is to ensure the safety and providence of His people; protecting them and providing for them; essentially, even willing to lay down His own life for them. Jesus perfectly exemplifies this by his courage of taking on the crucifixion despite being innocent. His layer down his life willingly even for those who hated him, so that they may have an opportunity to know redemption and eternal life.
Now, in light of all of this, with a better image in our minds of who Jesus is, understanding little by little what He is truly capable of.. How do we conquer our fear?… We surrender ourselves to the King of Kings. Who sets us free despite us denying, rejecting, sometimes even flat out mocking and doubting Him. We do not deserve to be treated with such compassion and MERCY, when we ourselves cannot be as gentle as lambs to our neighbors, and as powerful and courageous as lions in the face of injustice. Oh, but when you lay down your own life at the feet of Jesus.. that is where the real adventure can begin. We may not deserve it, and we are right in acknowledging that, but when we put complete trust into Christ, He will MAKE US NEW. That old you - a product of the world, a lost sheep, hardened by sin and pain - will no longer be… and the NEW you, the you that will now have the fullest of potential to become who you were meant to truly be, will be born. When you do this, it will not get easier, but life was not easy to begin with. The world around you may not change immediately, but you sure will. You will no longer be walking through this fallen world in all your scars and wounds, but with the Holy Spirit who holds the power to heal and purify everything in His path. When you have forgiven others, let go of your anger and your old life, and pray to practice virtuous lives - peace can now enter your heart. When the Spirit enters in with peace, Christ will show you how to love and what love is. Perfect love casts out all fear; and true love is to will the good of the other, for their sake, without expecting anything in return.
In John 1:29, John the Baptist identifies Jesus as the Lamb of God, highlighting the profound significance of his role as our salvation. This reference echoes the Old Testament's sacrificial lamb, whose blood protected the Israelites from the plague in Egypt. By calling Jesus the Lamb of God, John declares that he is the ultimate sacrifice for the sins of humanity, the one who will take away the sins of the world. This declaration not only foreshadows Jesus' crucifixion but also emphasizes the vital theological connection between the Old and New Testaments. Through John's proclamation, we understand that Jesus is the fulfillment of more and more ancient prophecies and the ultimate source of redemption for all mankind.
